Responsibilities
- Implement and operate cross-region replication for various AWS database services.
- Codify infrastructure using Terraform or CDK.
- Build observability layers for replication health metrics.
- Author and execute failover and failback runbooks.
- Support data extraction from monoliths into microservices.
- Collaborate with application engineers on connection-string abstraction and failover patterns.
- Write design documentation and runbooks for client handover.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production database engineering experience on AWS.
- Hands-on experience with payments, banking, or financial services workloads.
- Deep knowledge of at least two AWS database services and familiarity with others.
- Experience with cross-region replication and its failure modes.
- Strong skills in Terraform or CDK for building multi-region modules.
- Comfort with CDC tooling and operational challenges.
- Proficiency in Linux, networking fundamentals, and IAM/KMS.
