Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy, architecture, and execution for large, ambiguous Link money-movement initiatives.
- Own projects end to end from problem definition and technical planning through delivery, launch, and iteration.
- Build scalable backend services and consumer-facing experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript.
- Lead and unblock project teams of engineers while clarifying priorities, risks, decisions, and milestones.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, Infrastructure, and other Stripe teams.
- Make architectural and delivery tradeoffs involving user experience, reliability, safety, compliance, and technical foundations.
- Raise engineering quality through design reviews, mentoring, feedback, and technical leadership.
- Shape the long-term roadmap by identifying opportunities, risks, and investments needed to scale Link globally.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience with ownership of large, ambiguous systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of large, complex software projects from definition through production launch.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills, including reliable backend services and polished user-facing product experiences.
- Experience leading and unblocking a group of engineers on a substantial project as a senior individual contributor.
- Ability to frame ambiguous problems, make durable technical decisions, and create actionable plans.
- Strong cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration skills.
- Strong judgment regarding reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability.
- A product-minded approach focused on meaningful user and business outcomes.
- Preferred: experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript, payments or regulated financial products, scaled consumer products, 0-to-1 product development, stablecoins, digital assets, or related financial infrastructure.
- Preferred: appreciation for thorough internal and external documentation and seeing projects through completion.
