Responsibilities
- Support large-scale MySQL and open-source database environments across production and development systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical production issues.
- Drive automation to improve system availability and scalability.
- Architect existing and new database services in production environments.
- Operate and support mission-critical, high-availability database workloads.
- Evaluate, adopt, and deploy technologies and services into live production environments.
- Provide 24/7 operational support for customer environments.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience managing databases for enterprise cloud applications at scale.
- At least 3 years of experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in private and public cloud platforms, including AWS and/or GCP.
- Experience with AWS Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, replication, clustering, high availability/disaster recovery, and backup/restore.
- Experience operating Linux-based, clustered open-source and NoSQL technologies, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, or Riak.
- Proficiency in Python or Go, with secondary scripting experience in Shell or Ruby.
- Experience with Linux operating systems, containerized environments, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Git, Jenkins, or Argo.
- Deep knowledge of MySQL GTID, group replication, and Galera HA solutions.
- Familiarity with Orchestrator, Percona, MHA/Galera, Vitess, Ceph, Gluster, and Pure Storage.
- Understanding of IaaS capacity management across AWS, GCP, and private cloud environments.
- Proficiency with GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
