Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications, microservices, APIs, and event-driven solutions for Markets Sales Technology.
- Build AWS cloud-native solutions and identify appropriate workload placement, platform, resilience, security, and cost strategies.
- Develop and automate build, testing, deployment, and operational processes, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply engineering practices such as code quality controls, automated testing, observability, performance engineering, and technical debt management.
- Integrate applications with enterprise data platforms and downstream business systems.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, infrastructure teams, data engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
- Provide fault finding and performance support to operational teams and contribute to operational stability.
- Produce architecture, privacy, security, records-management, risk, capacity, and cost assessment inputs for governance processes.
- Guide technical direction, influence stakeholders, coach less experienced specialists, and contribute to strategic and multi-year assignments.
- Manage and mitigate risks while ensuring solutions meet Barclays standards for security, resilience, performance, and controls.
Requirements
- Experience building and supporting enterprise-scale applications using modern software engineering practices and design patterns.
- Experience developing microservices, APIs, and event-driven solutions in complex distributed environments.
- Experience delivering solutions across the software development lifecycle using modern development practices.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions using AWS and associated platform services.
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines and automating build, testing, deployment, and operational processes.
- Strong knowledge of Java, Python, Spring Boot, and modern software development frameworks.
- Experience with cloud engineering, DevOps, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience integrating applications with enterprise data platforms and downstream business systems.
- Experience with software performance engineering, platform resilience, observability, and operational support models.
- Experience supporting Sales, CRM, Client Analytics, Research, or Commercial Banking technology platforms is valued.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted software development, GenAI tooling, or intelligent automation capabilities is valued.
- Experience in Financial Services or another regulated environment is valued.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, influencing, risk management, strategic thinking, and business acumen skills.
