Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable distributed services enforcing network segmentation and security policies across Kubernetes clusters, clouds, and data centers.
- Develop control-plane services, Kubernetes controllers, and automation for policy lifecycle, workload identity, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Integrate cloud-native networking technologies including Kubernetes, CNI, service mesh, Linux networking, and SDN platforms.
- Deliver production software with automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted development practices.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for production issues involving distributed systems, Kubernetes, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
- Make architecture and design decisions balancing security, scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
- Mentor engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Identify automation opportunities and responsibly integrate AI across the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building large-scale backend or distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Java, Python, or C++.
- Strong foundations in distributed systems, networking, Linux, operating systems, data structures, and algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, controllers/operators, client-go, CRDs, and cloud-native architectures.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, load balancing, network namespaces, iptables/nftables, BGP, VXLAN, and container networking.
- Experience with cloud networking and SDN/CNI technologies such as Calico, Cilium, Istio, or Envoy.
- Experience building and operating production services with CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and incident management.
- Strong debugging skills across distributed systems, Kubernetes, Linux, and networking stacks.
- Experience using AI-powered engineering tools for software development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across teams.
- Preferred experience includes eBPF, Linux kernel networking, Zero Trust, micro-segmentation, workload identity, policy-based security platforms, OPA/Gatekeeper, OpenFGA, SPIFFE/SPIRE, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, event-driven architectures, and multi-cluster Kubernetes control planes.
