Base Salary
$220k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Identify promising AI research and set the technical roadmap for Fivetran AI.
- Prototype new ideas and turn successful prototypes into production-grade features.
- Define technical direction across departments and resolve architectural tradeoffs.
- Build and maintain back-end and front-end systems for the Fivetran AI product.
- Set the long-term technical vision for capabilities like AISQL.
- Take ownership of production reliability and participate in on-call rotations.
- Establish engineering quality standards and perform hands-on work as needed.
- Use coding agents to automate repetitive tasks.
- Mentor staff and senior engineers, enhancing technical judgment across the department.
- Represent Fivetran AI in cross-department planning and strategy discussions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of programming experience in Python and/or Java.
- Ability to influence technical direction across collaborating departments.
- Comfortable reading AI/ML research and turning findings into prototypes.
- Deep product and market awareness to judge emerging techniques.
- Proven track record of defining and executing independent technical direction.
- Experience with SQL and data warehouses like BigQuery or Snowflake.
- Willingness to work across the full stack, including research and QA.
- Ability to write well-structured, performant code.
- Experience using coding agents to enhance engineering efficiency.
- Demonstrated mentoring skills for senior and staff engineers.
