Responsibilities
- Set multi-year technical and product direction for Nu’s crypto systems.
- Lead architecture for highly consequential, security-critical crypto capabilities while contributing to key technical and protocol-level decisions.
- Translate blockchain and protocol expertise into customer-facing product capabilities and features.
- Evaluate scalability, reliability, security, and regulatory challenges specific to crypto and blockchain systems.
- Drive complex cross-functional initiatives across engineering, product, business, risk, and compliance.
- Provide technical leadership during major crypto infrastructure security incidents and production events.
- Mentor Staff+ engineers and engineering leaders and serve as a technical reference for crypto and blockchain systems.
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on expertise in blockchain and crypto systems, including protocols, on-chain data, custody, signing, key management, wallets, asset movement, or smart contracts.
- Sustained record of Staff+ technical leadership with impact across multiple teams or domains.
- Experience translating protocol and technical understanding into customer-facing product decisions and business outcomes.
- Experience leading complex, ambiguous, security-critical initiatives requiring technical depth and cross-functional judgment.
- Ability to reason about business models, product strategy, and market positioning alongside technical tradeoffs.
- Ability to influence engineering, product, security, risk, and compliance leaders without formal authority.
- Strong record of mentoring senior and Staff engineers and improving technical and product decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills across technical and business audiences.
- Preferred experience shaping crypto or digital-asset product and business strategy, working across multiple blockchain networks or protocol families, using HSMs, secure enclaves, or hardware-backed key-management infrastructure, working in regulated banking or fintech, or being recognized as a technical reference in crypto, blockchain security, or distributed systems.
