Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AWS Glue ETL jobs, Athena views, and related data infrastructure.
- Build and manage AWS infrastructure with Terraform and/or AWS CDK, including S3, IAM, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, and VPC resources.
- Own observability for data pipelines using metrics, logs, alerts, and tools such as CloudWatch or Datadog.
- Develop self-service DataOps tooling, pipeline templates, and shared libraries for data engineering teams.
- Manage Docker-based container and compute infrastructure using ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or Lambda.
- Operate workflow orchestration environments with Amazon MWAA, Apache Airflow, and AWS Step Functions.
- Build and maintain PySpark AWS Glue ETL jobs for ingestion and transformation across the S3 data lake.
- Drive secrets management, least-privilege IAM, network segmentation, and compliance controls.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and security teams on scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Lead incident response, on-call activities, root-cause analysis, and post-mortem improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct code, design, and architecture reviews.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, including at least 2 years of hands-on data engineering.
- Deep expertise with AWS services including S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation/CDK.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Glue, Athena, and S3 data lake capabilities.
- Proficiency with Terraform and/or AWS CDK for production cloud environments.
- Strong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
- Experience with Docker and container orchestration using Amazon ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
- Experience designing and operating observability systems for data and platform services.
- Strong communication skills for explaining operational concerns and engineering trade-offs.
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, or Glue Streaming ETL is preferred.
- Knowledge of Great Expectations, Deequ, or similar data quality frameworks is preferred.
- Familiarity with Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, and lakehouse patterns is preferred.
- Cybersecurity, threat intelligence, or security-data analytics experience is preferred.
- AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional, AWS Data Engineer – Associate, or AWS Solutions Architect certification is preferred.
- Experience with Infracost or AWS Cost Explorer cost-optimization tooling is preferred.
