Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate distributed platform services and APIs using Java, Python, and Kubernetes or equivalent infrastructure.
  • Apply domain-oriented design, system design, and low-level design to evaluate dependencies, trade-offs, failure modes, scalability, cost, and durability.
  • Contribute directly to Spark-based data pipelines and processing jobs alongside platform engineering work.
  • Build AI, GenAI, and agentic-powered platform capabilities, including developer tooling, workflow automation, agentic services, and AI-assisted operational tooling.
  • Own service reliability, scalability, observability, SLOs, distributed tracing, alerting, capacity planning, and incident response.
  • Guide architecture and system-design decisions across microservices, event-driven systems, and enterprise integrations.
  • Partner with data engineers, data scientists, and ML engineers on platform primitives for pipelines, feature stores, and model-serving paths.
  • Establish engineering standards through architecture, design, code, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and influence broader platform-engineering standards without requiring a management title.
  • Evaluate and adopt platform, cloud, and AI technologies that improve reliability, productivity, or business value.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional software-engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed platforms; the formal minimum qualifications also allow a bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience or 6 years of experience without the degree option.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Java and Python; Go, C++, or Scala experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep experience with microservices, distributed systems, event-driven patterns, API design, service contracts, enterprise integration, domain-oriented design, and low-level design.
  • Experience with cloud-native engineering, containerization, Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration, infrastructure automation, and production operations.
  • Working-level Spark experience and familiarity with Hadoop/HDFS, Hive, or Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience integrating model APIs and GenAI/LLM tooling, building agentic workflows, using embeddings and vector search, and applying MLOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of observability, distributed tracing, logging, metrics, alerting, incident response, capacity planning, fault tolerance, authentication, authorization, data protection, and secure API design.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous technical and business problems into execution plans and operate with high autonomy in a 0-to-1 environment.
  • Preferred qualification: a master's degree in a relevant computer science, engineering, or software field plus 2 years of software-engineering experience.
