Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture of complex, multi-region, highly available distributed systems.
- Define documentation and standards for using AWS and Azure components.
- Lead architectural reviews and evaluate designs against reliability and security standards.
- Partner with Finance and Engineering leadership on cloud budgets, cost controls, and attribution models.
- Guide migration toward serverless architectures, Kubernetes, and internal developer platforms.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical excellence without direct supervisory responsibility.
- Develop and design scalable cloud-native backend services and API-based applications.
- Translate technical debt and architecture concerns into business risk for non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering or systems architecture, including at least 5 years focused on large-scale cloud environments.
- Deep knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, storage, compute, Kubernetes, Nomad, and Kafka.
- Enterprise-scale expertise with Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation, including modular design, state management, and CI/CD integration.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, .NET, or Go and backend object-oriented analysis, design patterns, and architecture.
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP and experience architecting at least 3 large enterprise implementations or 4–6 projects using these technologies.
- Experience building API-based cloud services or applications and working in organizations using agile practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred exposure to React, open-source cloud-native contributions, SOC2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and AWS or Azure certifications or cloud-resource experience.
