Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for network automation and infrastructure control platforms.
- Design and build APIs, services, controllers, and reconciliation workflows for production infrastructure.
- Build Kubernetes custom resources and control loops that converge actual state toward declared intent.
- Own Kubernetes operations including CRD rollout, RBAC, admission, controller health, Helm packaging, deployment drift, and incident diagnosis.
- Design distributed workflows with eventual consistency, at-least-once delivery, concurrent writes, idempotency, and safe recovery.
- Design versioned APIs, schemas, and data models with backward compatibility across team boundaries.
- Develop multi-tenant infrastructure platforms with tenant isolation, authorization, policy enforcement, and safe automation boundaries.
- Establish testing, observability, CI gates, versioned artifacts, controlled promotion, and safe deployment and recovery practices.
- Lead complex migrations and modernization of automation, services, and data models.
- Drive technical alignment across software engineering, networking, operations, and architecture teams.
- Mentor engineers, lead technical and design reviews, and raise software engineering standards.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in a backend language such as Python, Go, Rust, or Java, including asynchronous concurrency, static typing, data modeling and validation, API development, packaging, and tooling.
- Strong experience building Kubernetes controllers or operators with custom resources and reconciliation or control-loop patterns.
- Strong experience building event-driven distributed systems involving eventual consistency, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, optimistic concurrency, and partial-failure handling.
- Experience designing self-service, multi-tenant platforms with tenant isolation, policy, and access control.
- Strong API and schema design skills, including versioning and schema evolution.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across team boundaries, architectural design, stakeholder alignment, and engineering mentorship.
- Track record of taking ambiguous, technically complex problems from architecture through reliable production systems managing large-scale infrastructure.
- Networking fundamentals such as BGP, IP fabrics, VXLAN, EVPN, or L3VPN are preferred.
- Working knowledge of Go is preferred.
- Experience designing testing and observability strategies for production infrastructure automation is preferred.
- Experience with graph databases or source-of-truth systems that model infrastructure and relationships is preferred.
