Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services and platform components using Go and gRPC across multiple AWS regions.
- Partner with mobile, product, security, and vendor teams to deliver end-to-end customer features.
- Own design documents, code, tests, deployment pipelines, and production operations.
- Set engineering standards for code quality, reviews, testing, observability, and secure coding.
- Lead technical decisions and guide complex third-party integrations involving payments, loyalty, identity, and content.
- Drive platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Mentor engineers and help grow team capability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with recent, hands-on backend development.
- Strong Go experience or deep experience in a comparable language with willingness to work in Go, plus gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and API design.
- Solid AWS experience including ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, load balancing, and infrastructure as code with CDK or Terraform.
- Proven experience designing and operating distributed, multi-region production systems.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working across teams, time zones, and vendors.
- Experience building or working closely with consumer mobile applications on iOS or Android.
- Experience with observability, including metrics, logs, and traces using Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar tools.
- CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps and TypeScript experience for infrastructure code are desirable.
- Consumer mobile backend experience at scale and hands-on experience applying AI in engineering are additional desirable qualifications.
