Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship resilient Java-based microservices and event-driven payment capabilities.
- Partner with architecture, product, data science, and AI platform teams to integrate machine learning and AI-assisted workflows.
- Lead legacy-system decomposition and modernization using domain-driven design, strangler patterns, and AI-assisted refactoring.
- Instrument and document systems with telemetry, feature flags, and guardrails to support safe AI copilots and autonomous runbooks.
- Drive design reviews, automated testing, chaos and resilience practices, and codified reliability standards.
- Improve developer experience through automated pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and AI-enabled tooling.
- Coach and mentor engineers on AI-first development, responsible AI usage, prompt literacy, and experimentation.
- Integrate AI and ML APIs, vector stores, embeddings, and automation services into applications.
- Build or consume secure AI microservices and make pragmatic, data-informed engineering trade-offs.
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in complex, distributed, highly regulated environments.
- Expert-level Java skills with strong programming fundamentals and fluency in modern frameworks, testing libraries, and build tooling.
- Hands-on AWS or comparable cloud experience building cloud-native, containerized services on Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, and Site Reliability/DevOps practices.
- Demonstrated use of AI-assisted engineering tools or experience building ML/LLM-enabled services.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Preferred experience with OpenAI, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock, LLM-powered features, conversational APIs, AI automation workflows, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and AI evaluation.
- Preferred exposure to payments, transaction processing, real-time financial systems, and multiple cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
