Responsibilities
- Build and improve backend platforms, tools, and integrations for Stripe operations teams.
- Own engineering problems end to end while considering business impact, reliability, and operability.
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand workflows, competing needs, and priorities.
- Contribute to the product roadmap, team vision, and strategy.
- Maintain high standards for engineering and product quality, including testing, documentation, security, and observability.
- Mentor newer team members and support their engineering development.
Requirements
- Have 3+ years of software engineering experience.
- Have experience working across backend systems and understanding the full software development lifecycle from design and implementation through testing and deployment.
- Write high-quality, thoroughly tested code with clear documentation and appropriate production observability.
- Follow engineering, security, and design best practices.
- Demonstrate empathy for internal and external users and commitment to improving their experience.
- Have the ability to integrate different services and processes, including unfamiliar ones.
- Preferred: proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Ruby, Java, Python, or Go.
- Preferred: knowledge of distributed systems patterns and principles.
