Base Salary
$94k - $198k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex frontend and backend web applications for DHS C3 investigative operations.
- Develop and maintain custom applications, investigative tools, sites, APIs, and microservices.
- Build applications using Tor and other dark web technologies for secure, anonymous communication.
- Develop responsive user interfaces with React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Develop server-side applications with Python, Node.js, Java, Express.js, Django, or Flask.
- Design and optimize database schemas and SQL queries for performance and scalability.
- Integrate applications with existing investigative systems, infrastructure, APIs, and system interfaces.
- Maintain and deploy applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Git, GitHub, and deployment pipelines.
- Develop solutions for anonymized and dark web environments while maintaining operational security.
- Collaborate with data scientists, infrastructure engineers, and cybersecurity specialists.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
- Document software architecture, APIs, and technical specifications.
- Support the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through production deployment.
- Ensure applications meet federal security standards and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of full-stack development experience delivering production applications.
- At least 2 years of experience developing dark web applications using technologies such as Tor.
- At least 4 years of experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js and strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills.
- At least 4 years of backend development experience with Python, Node.js, or Java.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and SQL query optimization.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience maintaining and deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of web security best practices, secure coding principles, and anonymization technologies.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite in Fairfax, Virginia.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a DHS background investigation, including checks related to felony convictions, illegal drug use, and misconduct.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, experience integrating AI/ML models into web applications, and knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and AI model deployment.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
