Responsibilities
- Partner with product and engineering teams to identify application security risks.
- Read application code and documentation to understand security vulnerabilities.
- Contribute code changes and automation to improve AppSec workflows.
- Review code changes in GitHub and participate in pull request discussions.
- Evaluate vulnerabilities from various sources and prioritize remediation efforts.
- Translate security findings into actionable guidance and documentation.
- Communicate security issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build relationships across teams to influence security outcomes.
- Continue developing hands-on security and software engineering skills.
Requirements
- 0–2+ years of experience in application security or related fields.
- Foundational programming ability in languages like Python or JavaScript.
- Comfort reading and reasoning about code in unfamiliar codebases.
- Experience using Git and GitHub for version control.
- Hands-on experience in building or securing software.
- Ability to write clear scripts or programs for practical problems.
- Understanding of common web and application security risks.
- Interest in offensive security and related certifications.
- Exposure to vulnerability management concepts.
- Ability to reason about risk and tradeoffs in security.
- Strong product and engineering empathy.
- Clear communication skills for explaining security findings.
- Collaborative mindset for working across various teams.
