Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and review production code, test code, APIs, services, and customer-facing web applications.
- Own architecture and design decisions across the full stack, including performance, scalability, resiliency, security, privacy, compliance, and cost considerations.
- Create test strategies, improve test coverage and reliability, and use AI tools for test automation.
- Automate deployment and production operations, including flighting, feature flags, rollback planning, and production-like validation.
- Build observability through logging, instrumentation, telemetry, dashboards, and monitoring.
- Participate in rotational on-call support, incident response, postmortems, troubleshooting, and live-site reliability improvements.
- Lead engineering initiatives, guide other engineers, and influence partner teams without formal authority.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, security and privacy specialists, customer escalation teams, and other stakeholders to understand user requirements.
- Conduct experiments using internal experimentation infrastructure and success and guard-rail metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 6+ years of experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: experience designing, building, and operating applications and services on Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud platforms.
- Preferred: experience owning large-scale production applications end to end, from architecture and design through deployment and operations.
- Preferred: demonstrated technical leadership, architecture and design decision-making, initiative leadership, and influence without formal authority.
- Preferred: full-stack experience with React, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, micro-frontend architectures, and backend APIs and services.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and applying AI across software design, implementation, testing, debugging, operations, and developer productivity.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year; specific San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area ranges are USD $160,200–$261,000 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- Employees within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft U.S. hub are generally expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
- The position is open for at least five days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
