Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, and support software based on technical specifications.
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of scalable web services and distributed systems.
- Improve system quality by identifying issues and patterns and developing standard operating procedures.
- Enhance and maintain existing applications and codebases, including peer review of code changes.
- Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to implement technical designs.
- Investigate and apply relevant technologies, including AI-native engineering practices.
- Participate in architecture and code reviews.
- Assist customer support with technical problems and questions.
- Lead or participate in projects and mentor less experienced developers.
- Drive cloud, DevOps, or AI modernization initiatives and translate AI innovation into business and productivity impact.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience in Java full-stack development.
- At least 15 years of full-time education.
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments.
- At least 12 years of experience with Java Enterprise Edition.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture experience, preferably using Java.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud-based big data systems, including at least 5 years of development and debugging experience.
- Experience building front ends with React is preferred.
- Experience integrating with event buses such as Pulsar and cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and best practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- Understanding of big data and machine learning technologies.
- Strong understanding of LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains.
- Ability to lead technical work, operate across levels of abstraction, make independent decisions, and mentor developers.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; master’s degree is a plus.
