Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and deliver secure, scalable production software solutions.
- Build and lead Kafka-based event-streaming platforms and services for high-throughput environments.
- Develop and operate high-volume data-processing pipelines using Apache Spark and/or Apache Flink.
- Make architecture decisions, write and own design documents, align stakeholders, and deliver through ambiguity.
- Improve operational stability through automation, monitoring, SLOs/SLAs, on-call readiness, incident response, and postmortems.
- Review and debug code, establish secure coding and validation standards, and promote reusable engineering patterns.
- Lead adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering tools for coding, code review, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Lead vendor and internal evaluation sessions and communities of practice across Software Engineering.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Proficiency with backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, and Node.js, including microservices development.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, distributed systems, web technologies, RESTful APIs, web services, WebSockets, and JSON.
- Experience designing scalable applications with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Demonstrated experience leading the effective and secure use of approved AI-assisted software development tools.
- Experience designing and delivering Kafka-based event-streaming platforms, event-driven architectures, and reliable distributed systems.
- Experience improving streaming-system operability, including SLOs/SLAs, monitoring, incident response, and postmortems.
- Production experience with Apache Spark, Spark SQL, Structured Streaming, Apache Flink, DataStream API, and/or Table API.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS certification and strong presentation, negotiation, mentoring, stakeholder-management, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
