Senior Software Engineer - Data Protection Software Engineering (C, C++)

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of performant services and distributed systems for Dell’s Data Protection portfolio.
- Drive complex features and projects through concept, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Define service contracts, API standards, scalability strategies, resiliency mechanisms, and operational excellence practices.
- Partner with architects and product management to translate business objectives into technical solutions and engineering roadmaps.
- Improve reliability, observability, automation, performance, scalability, and developer productivity.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across multiple services, environments, and technology stacks.
- Lead design reviews and code reviews, champion engineering excellence, and mentor and coach junior engineers.
- Promote AI-assisted development, agentic engineering practices, and intelligent automation across the software lifecycle.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- Strong expertise in C/C++, Java, or Golang for data-path and/or control-path services development.
- Experience building and operating large-scale control-path or data-path services and distributed systems.
- Proven technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching experience.
- Strong understanding of virtualized and containerized workloads, with expertise in debugging, performance optimization, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
- Expertise with VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, OpenStack, and Kubernetes ecosystems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, observability platforms, and software delivery automation.
- Ability to independently drive complex engineering initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools and modern AI-enabled software development practices.
- Preferred experience in Data Protection, Cyber Recovery, Storage, Backup & Recovery, or Enterprise Infrastructure Software.
- Preferred experience developing software across public-cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises environments.
- Preferred experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as RabbitMQ or similar platforms.
- Preferred knowledge of AI/ML systems, GenAI applications, agentic AI frameworks, and intelligent automation platforms.
- Preferred experience influencing architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
