Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate end-to-end product features across front-end, back-end, data, and integration systems.
- Implement and evolve secure, scalable, observable APIs and microservices.
- Develop user interfaces using JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and React or an equivalent framework.
- Design and maintain Java back-end services, business logic, and integrations.
- Work with relational databases and caching solutions to efficiently model, store, and retrieve data.
- Write high-quality, testable code with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Use CI/CD pipelines and version control to ship changes safely and frequently.
- Monitor production services and participate in on-call and incident response activities.
- Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to define solutions and run A/B tests.
- Contribute to technical design discussions, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and informal mentoring.
- Champion security, privacy, performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Operate high-volume, low-latency services, including performance tuning and capacity planning.
Requirements
- Requires 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience with production systems.
- Strong experience with Java or similar JVM languages and Spring Boot or Dropwizard.
- Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React and with JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience building and consuming HTTP APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases such as MySQL and efficient SQL development.
- Experience with automated unit and integration testing, CI/CD tools, and Git.
- Experience operating high-traffic or high-volume distributed systems and handling production incidents.
- Hands-on AWS experience, including services such as EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, networking, and monitoring.
- Experience using modern AI tooling such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Windsurf for engineering work.
- Preferred experience includes Kubernetes, Kafka or other message queues, event-driven architectures, experimentation platforms, design systems, accessibility, and relevant commerce, travel, payments, or fraud/risk domains.
- Requires effective communication, cross-functional collaboration, ownership, learning, and pragmatic decision-making.
