Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java and Spring Boot services within a microservices architecture.
- Lead development efforts using event-driven architectures and Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Architect, design, and optimize relational databases such as PostgreSQL for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support partner integrations and expand Wise’s global payment platform.
- Participate in code reviews, promote coding best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
- Contribute to scalable cash-management infrastructure supporting liquidity, payments, and foreign exchange risk management.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend services, or similar languages and frameworks.
- Strong expertise in microservices architecture and event-driven design.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity.
- Experience with domain-driven design is a plus.
- A strong product mindset, customer focus, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Starting salary of £87,500–£111,000 per year.
