Responsibilities
- Build and ship scalable backend services, indexing features, and index-serving capabilities in a distributed cloud environment.
- Design and operate reliable, high-performance backend systems and microservices for search retrieval infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product managers on backend scalability and performance challenges.
- Review code with attention to reliability, readability, testing, security, and low-latency performance.
- Implement observability, error tracking, and metrics monitoring for high-throughput services.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, technical design discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem solving.
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating backend systems and microservices.
- Proficiency in modern backend or systems programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala, or Python.
- Experience designing performant, scalable services and working with distributed systems and APIs.
- Experience with search systems such as OpenSearch, relational databases such as Postgres, and/or NoSQL or distributed storage systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and architecture such as AWS and modern deployment pipelines.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and commitment to software engineering quality.
