Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable, resilient backend systems powering integrity and safety features.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of systems that detect, prevent, and mitigate integrity risks, including content classification, spam, and generative AI misuse.
- Develop, deploy, and iterate on ML models and algorithms for content classification, anomaly detection, risk scoring, behavior analysis, content filtering, bias mitigation, and output monitoring.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, AI researchers, security teams, and operations to deliver integrity systems for generative AI products.
- Drive the long-term technical vision and roadmap for backend integrity systems and applied ML capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and promote software engineering, distributed systems, data engineering, and ML lifecycle best practices.
- Improve the performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of integrity platforms and ML models.
- Monitor emerging threats, backend technologies, ML applications in trust and safety, and generative AI safety research.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on backend systems development.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience designing, building, and operating complex, large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Expertise in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.
- Hands-on experience applying machine learning to real-world integrity, trust, or safety challenges.
- Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, including data preparation, feature engineering, model selection, training, validation, A/B testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Preferred qualifications include Trust & Safety, Integrity, or Risk engineering experience; open-source contributions or relevant publications; and experience leading large, cross-cutting technical projects.
