Responsibilities
- Work with senior stakeholders to understand requirements and contribute from discovery through production support.
- Design, build, test, deploy, and support software applications, services, and reusable components.
- Create pragmatic technical designs balancing quality, security, maintainability, and long-term supportability.
- Develop across backend services, integrations, and user-facing applications.
- Design secure APIs and integrations across digital products, enterprise systems, and data services.
- Collaborate with data engineers on APIs, events, and data contracts.
- Contribute to code reviews, engineering standards, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Mentor and support colleagues through pairing, review, and day-to-day collaboration.
- Make appropriate technology choices across a mixed technology estate.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience delivering production software end to end while working closely with stakeholders.
- Frontend and backend development experience.
- Experience designing APIs and integrating with enterprise systems and data services.
- Strong understanding of software design principles and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience working with relational databases and familiarity with database and caching technologies.
- Understanding of secure coding, modern authentication, and authorization.
- Experience delivering software in cloud-hosted environments such as Azure.
- Ability to work effectively across a mixed technology estate.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience mentoring others through review, pairing, and practical support.
- Practical use of, or strong interest in, AI-assisted development tools in a responsible delivery environment.
- Desired experience with container tooling, Microsoft Power Platform, and Office document automation for Excel, Word, and PDF generation.
- Depending on project requirements, ability to meet UK residency criteria and obtain UK security clearance such as BPSS and potentially SC.
