Lead Software Engineer - Enterprise Agents

Base Salary

$173k - $260k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, implement, test, and deliver production-grade Agent capabilities and software systems.
  • Design secure and predictable orchestration patterns integrating AI Agents with human and system workflows.
  • Build and maintain shared system context, including design constraints, guardrails, and standards for reliable Agent behavior.
  • Drive the technical path to general availability by defining readiness criteria, closing architecture gaps, and reducing timeline risk.
  • Develop and maintain services, APIs, data layers, and scalable backend systems.
  • Debug and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Evaluate code and Agent behavior for correctness, security, and performance.
  • Mentor engineers on software engineering practices and Agent architecture patterns.
  • Present designs, review others’ designs, and collaborate cross-functionally to ship end-to-end features.

Requirements

  • A related technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including production experience architecting and shipping Agent-based systems.
  • Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and API/service design.
  • Deep object-oriented programming knowledge and proficiency in at least one OOP language, including Java, JavaScript, C++, C#, Ruby, or Python.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, REST/GraphQL API design, and scalable secure backend services.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Production experience with Agent orchestration frameworks, tool-calling patterns, and LLM integration.
  • Understanding of enterprise Agent reliability, security, and observability requirements, including guardrails, evaluation, monitoring, and failure handling.
  • Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor.
  • Advanced prompt engineering and system-context design skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously under tight timelines and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: experience taking an Agent product from build to general availability at enterprise scale.
  • Preferred: experience with Agile software development, test-driven development, and large-scale multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
