Responsibilities
- Build and manage database hosting capabilities across on-premises, cloud, and DBaaS environments.
- Develop database infrastructure platforms and provide tooling and guidance for distributed systems.
- Administer, optimize, secure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Configure and manage AWS database services, including high availability and scalable deployments.
- Automate database and cloud infrastructure operations using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting.
- Monitor, diagnose, and improve database performance, efficiency, scale, and reliability.
- Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, failover, patching, and capacity-planning strategies.
Requirements
- Strong experience administering AWS database services for SQL and NoSQL databases across DBaaS and Elastic Compute models.
- Expertise managing PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server, including administration, optimization, and high-availability configurations.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform modules and workflows and configuration management using Ansible or Terraform.
- Knowledge of AWS services including Aurora, DynamoDB, and RDS.
- Experience building scalable and distributed database infrastructure.
- Proficiency with version control, scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and Linux distributions.
- Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of database schema design, authentication, access control, encryption, backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Understanding of IT operations best practices, including ITIL and DevOps principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability skills.
