Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering teams to automate and optimize service availability, scalability, performance, monitoring, and alerting.
- Develop software and automation that reduces operational toil and improves SaaS availability, scalability, and resilience.
- Build and maintain internal platforms and services that enable engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain methodologies for iterative deployment of Instructure’s cloud architecture.
- Build resilient, self-scaling systems and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Operate and automate cloud-based services using AWS.
Requirements
- Experience managing a 24/7 SaaS environment with strong uptime.
- Experience with at least one cloud platform, including AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure; AWS is preferred.
- Programming experience in Python, Go, TypeScript/Node.js, Java, or Ruby.
- Experience with Docker or container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, ECS, or Mesos.
- Deep understanding of configuration management, automation, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
- Exposure to deployment tooling such as Jenkins, Argo, Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodeDeploy.
- Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
