Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
- Build resilient, high-performance distributed applications for enterprise workloads.
- Drive performance engineering across application, middleware, and database layers, including JVM tuning, memory management, garbage collection, concurrency, connection pools, and API optimization.
- Tune and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases through query analysis, indexing, schema design, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Support cloud modernization and cloud-native architecture initiatives using Google Cloud Platform services.
- Design integrations with Snowflake and contribute to data-platform modernization, ingestion, ETL/ELT, and application connectivity.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to architectural decisions involving scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and cloud adoption.
- Promote code reviews, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD adoption, and operational excellence.
- Mentor and coach engineers and provide technical guidance through peer reviews and engineering standards.
Requirements
- 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong Java and microservices expertise.
- Significant experience designing enterprise-scale, highly scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
- Deep proficiency in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, resiliency, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Strong experience with Java performance tuning, including JVM analysis, memory management, garbage collection, concurrency, profiling, diagnostics, and production troubleshooting.
- Strong expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL, including SQL query tuning, execution plans, indexing, schema and data-model optimization, and database monitoring.
- Experience with business-critical systems where performance, scalability, reliability, and availability are essential.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications with Snowflake and understanding cloud-based data-platform architectures.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Understanding of distributed systems, caching, concurrency, and performance engineering principles.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, observability platforms, monitoring frameworks, SRE practices, infrastructure as code, cloud automation, data engineering or analytics platforms, and Python or other scripting languages.
- Preferred proficiency with Git, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, DevOps, and SRE methodologies.
- Prior technical leadership, mentoring, and development-team guidance experience.
- Ability to use AI tools productively while applying critical judgment for responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
