Base Salary
$173k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and operate identity and access management services on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Build controls for authentication and access by humans and AI agents within Slack’s systems.
- Create automation and APIs that reduce manual access-management work and organizational risk.
- Collaborate with Identity, Security, and Infrastructure engineering teams on shared services and APIs.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, monitoring, alerting, and SLO-related operational work.
- Take increasing ownership of projects and systems while developing identity-domain expertise.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating production backend systems.
- Proficiency in a high-level programming language such as Python or Go.
- Hands-on AWS experience deploying and operating cloud services.
- Working knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, service architecture, and data stores.
- Understanding of security fundamentals and secure software development practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document technical information clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Interest or exposure to authentication, authorization, identity lifecycle management, or access governance is preferred.
- Experience deploying and managing workloads in Kubernetes is preferred.

- The role’s base salary range is $172,500–$260,100 annually, or $207,800–$285,800 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas; bonus, equity, and benefits are excluded from the stated base range.
