Responsibilities
- Design significant components of modern digital service platforms and their automation, build, deployment, and support processes.
- Build, test, deploy, monitor, and support software components in production environments.
- Use AWS, configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, automation, container orchestration, and version control tools to solve business problems.
- Create scalable, resilient, efficient, secure, performant, cost-effective designs that minimize vendor lock-in.
- Implement continuous delivery processes and support software releases into production.
- Participate in architecture, estimation, product planning, user story and requirements creation, and collaborative technical decision-making.
- Debug complex problems across multiple servers, services, and tools.
- Support live operations and continuously improve service availability, security, and performance.
- Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Significant expertise using multiple configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and automation tools.
- Fluency in at least one of PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, or Groovy.
- Demonstrable experience designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring, and supporting significant platform components in production.
- Experience designing scalable, resilient, efficient, secure, performant, cost-effective systems and minimizing lock-in.
- Experience using AWS public cloud platforms, modern version control systems including Git, and configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and container orchestration tooling.
- Experience applying infrastructure and application best practices for security, elasticity, and performance.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills in multidisciplinary environments, including communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Active security clearance is required.
- A related third-level or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Mid-level certification with a public cloud provider such as AWS or Azure is desirable.
- Experience with cloud-native SaaS and PaaS technologies and with managing, mentoring, or coaching junior staff is desirable.
