Responsibilities
- Establish and communicate a coherent 12–18 month technical direction for the platform, including trade-offs, milestones, and alignment with engineering leadership.
- Define architectural patterns and standards for self-service infrastructure, AI-augmented workflows, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Drive broad adoption of well-designed and documented platform capabilities that reduce provisioning and deployment friction.
- Influence platform strategy using internal customer feedback, usage data, adoption dynamics, and business outcomes.
- Identify architectural, security, operational, and cost risks before they become incidents and influence engineering practices across the organization.
- Develop senior engineers through technical challenge, feedback, mentorship, and exposure to complex problems.
- Represent platform strategy to senior leadership and translate engineering constraints into business language.
Requirements
- Experience defining platform architecture, standards, and patterns over a multi-quarter horizon.
- Experience making high-judgment foundational trade-offs such as build versus buy, depth versus breadth, and short-term pragmatism versus long-term coherence.
- Experience navigating disagreement among senior engineers, architects, and stakeholders and establishing durable technical decisions.
- Experience being accountable for outcomes spanning multiple teams without personally delivering every initiative.
- Experience embedding AI and automation into platform architecture and establishing patterns for AI-augmented engineering workflows.
- Understanding of internal customer needs, platform adoption dynamics, and barriers to self-service.
- Experience identifying architectural, security, and operational risks and influencing broader engineering practices around reliability, security posture, and cost efficiency.
- Ability to connect platform decisions to business outcomes and communicate strategy to senior leadership.
- Experience actively developing senior engineers and raising team capability.
