Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and refactor highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems for retail e-commerce platforms.
- Participate in incident triage and resolution as a platform and systems subject matter expert.
- Develop automation and tools to accelerate incident response, reduce operational toil, and streamline software delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional war rooms to restore services within defined SLAs and minimize business impact.
- Monitor system performance and reliability KPIs, conduct production readiness reviews, and implement service-health improvements.
- Support product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, deployment, and production monitoring.
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software while collaborating with product teams on valuable, developer-ready, testable user stories.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions on modern software development frameworks and practices.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Six years of experience in a related occupation, including six years of experience with cloud computing, systems engineering, automation, infrastructure management, observability, capacity planning, enablement and support, software languages, large transaction workloads, and reliability engineering principles.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform and AWS.
- Experience with OS and containerization, Layer 4/7 networking, PKI, NALSD, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and AI/ML solutions for toil and risk reduction.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Google Cloud Monitoring, New Relic, load testing, and auto-scaling configurations.
- Experience with Bash, SQL, Golang, YAML, JSON, HCL, TypeScript, Python, Java, PromQL, and LogQL.
- Experience handling large transaction workloads and maintaining 99.99% system availability.
- Experience with SLOs, SLAs, SLIs, production readiness reviews, compliance and vulnerability management, FinOps, release engineering, automation, and solution and tool development.
