Base Salary
$100k - $500k/yr
Responsibilities
- Automate payout orchestration and eliminate human-triggered payment workflows.
- Build an immutable, auditable operational ledger for financial transactions.
- Design settlement ingestion and reconciliation pipelines.
- Improve observability across payout, processor, and bank flows.
- Instrument and monitor ledger, payout orchestration, and settlement systems.
- Diagnose recurring payment failures and redesign systems to address root causes.
- Reduce manual treasury overhead and abstract payment processor dependencies.
- Operate distributed payment systems reliably under significant production load.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience building scalable backend systems, preferably in payments, fintech, billing, or financial infrastructure.
- At least 3 years of backend or platform engineering experience with ownership of production systems or equivalent experience.
- Experience integrating with and managing third-party payment gateways such as Stripe or Adyen and/or direct banking APIs.
- Understanding of financial regulations, PCI-DSS compliance, and secure handling and encryption of sensitive banking and customer data.
- At least 3 years of professional experience with transactional databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Professional experience with compiled languages such as Go, Rust, or C++.
- Experience with message queues or streaming platforms such as RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka.
- Experience with distributed systems frameworks such as Temporal and Kubernetes.
- Ability to operate production systems under significant load with strong observability and reliability practices.
- Comfort working in high-intensity, fast-growing, and ambiguous environments with system-level and strategic thinking.
