Responsibilities
- Design and build Agora’s internal development platform, reusable infrastructure abstractions, internal services, developer tooling, and infrastructure primitives.
- Own and improve the TypeScript Pulumi codebase, Kubernetes-based runtime environments, and monitoring stack.
- Design, operate, and scale reliable cloud infrastructure and production-grade systems on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Define engineering standards through code and improve developer experience through self-service capabilities and golden paths.
- Develop observability practices, operational dashboards, alerts, business metrics, incident tooling, and reliability measures including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Participate in maintenance, operations, and on-call rotations for production systems.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial infrastructure and cloud experience.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript or another strictly typed language.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals including availability, consistency, observability, and fault tolerance.
- Experience designing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code systems.
- Deep understanding of AWS architecture.
- Experience designing, operating, and scaling Kubernetes workloads.
- Ability to build reusable systems and abstractions rather than one-off scripts.
- Preferred experience defining SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident tooling.
- Preferred experience with observability practices, alerts, operational dashboards, and business metrics.
- Familiarity with deployment automation technologies and GitOps patterns.
- Expertise in developer experience or developer productivity.
- Experience building internal development platforms focused on self-service and golden paths.
- Experience maintaining and operating production-grade systems and participating in on-call rotations.

- Remote location is supported, with preference for candidates near Eastern Time and exceptional candidates accepted through Pacific Time plus two hours.
- Working hours must have a majority overlap with Eastern Time business hours.
