Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, reliable, repeatable platform solutions aligned with business and engineering needs.
- Build, operate, and improve shared platforms, DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and testing services across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Embed security, resilience, compliance, reliability, and Well Architected Framework principles into infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling.
- Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and reliability while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Create solution designs, recommendations, scope documents, standards, and documentation that identify dependencies, risks, and gaps.
- Collaborate with engineering, testing, security, operations, and architecture teams and support architecture governance forums.
- Provide technical expertise in areas such as platform engineering, security, quality engineering, observability, and resilience.
- Share knowledge and mentor engineers through technical discussions, guidance, and shared problem solving.
- Advise on relevant technologies, emerging trends, platform strategy, and tooling strategy.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing, building, or operating cloud-based or on-premises platforms, infrastructure, DevOps tools, or shared services.
- Experience building or maintaining shared platforms, DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, or testing services.
- Experience using automation or infrastructure as code to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
- Understanding of secure, resilient, reliable, and compliant system design.
- Familiarity with Well Architected Framework principles and their application to platform and solution design.
- Ability to deliver platforms, tools, or capabilities safely into live environments and operate and improve them afterward.
- Ability to translate business and engineering needs into practical technical designs and make evidence-based decisions balancing risk, cost, and value.
- Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing skills, including creating standards or guidance.
- Experience coaching or mentoring other engineers.
- Desirable experience integrating systems through APIs or shared services, working in regulated environments, shaping product roadmaps, designing enterprise-level architecture, supporting bids or proposals, and applying monitoring, logging, alerting, or incident-response practices.
