Sr. Staff Software Development Engineer, Data Collection

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex technical problems and guide technical teams toward effective architecture and implementation decisions.
  • Perform hands-on development, technology experimentation, assumption validation, and risk analysis.
  • Define, measure, and continuously evaluate platform and product quality and non-functional requirements.
  • Document technical designs and collaborate with architects and other teams.
  • Implement well-designed, testable, efficient, scalable, reliable software that meets product requirements and coding standards.
  • Design and deliver end-to-end initiatives with little to no guidance.
  • Improve products through return-on-experience reviews and root-cause analysis of incidents.
  • Provide technical guidance across teams and promote architecture guidelines, principles, and practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and internal stakeholders in an Agile environment.
  • Mentor junior roles, including Staff Software Development Engineers, and support company initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar field.
  • At least 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 8 years with a master’s degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in software development or engineering roles.
  • At least 6 years of experience with Java or a similar object-oriented language.
  • At least 4 years of experience developing microservices.
  • Experience with service-oriented and microservices architecture, cloud architecture, Domain-Driven Design, Clean Architecture, and Hexagonal Architecture.
  • Fluency in architecture patterns and RESTful API design.
  • Experience with middleware, platforms, or systems of systems.
  • Experience with web technologies and standards such as JSON and JWT.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Spring Boot or Spring Framework and container orchestration software such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience working in development teams in an Agile environment and across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead or guide junior peers across multiple teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new systems and software easily.
