
Senior Lead Software Engineer - Java, Kafka, Cloud
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and direction to business and technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
- Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, and incident/root-cause analysis.
- Establish measurable validation standards for secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and AI-assisted engineering outputs.
- Use Software Development Life Cycle tooling, approved AI-assisted development capabilities, and automation to improve engineering outcomes at scale.
- Influence product design, application functionality, technical operations, and engineering processes.
- Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert and advocate for firmwide engineering frameworks, tools, and practices.
Requirements
- Proven expertise building large-scale, high-throughput applications.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, cloud-native applications, distributed systems, and parallel processing.
- Experience with performance analysis and tuning, including Java-based profiling and monitoring tools.
- Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Experience coaching senior engineers or leads on compliant AI usage patterns and controls.
- Ability to independently solve design and functionality problems with little to no oversight.
- Preferred experience with Kafka Streams, event-driven architecture, microservices architecture, behavior-driven design, Kubernetes, APIGEE Gateway, cloud services, agentic workflows, production agentic AI, and modern AI tooling.
