Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of Toast’s backend architecture and frameworks.
- Design and build next-generation accounting and financial systems.
- Define and implement scalable engineering practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, and engineering teams to deliver solutions.
- Build partnerships across business units to align technology strategies.
- Champion data-driven decision making and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and promote a culture of inclusivity and learning.
- Guide the technical roadmap and architecture strategy for Toast.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance development workflows and productivity.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience designing and delivering complex backend systems.
- Proven technical leadership on mission-critical projects.
- Strong experience with event-driven architectures and microservices.
- Deep understanding of data architecture and schema design.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong knowledge of modern database systems like Postgres and DynamoDB.
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
