Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, modernization, and support of scalable, resilient, cloud-native enterprise applications.
- Drive technical architecture, solution design, engineering governance, and delivery across multiple projects and application domains.
- Lead performance optimization, resiliency improvements, security reviews, production stability, observability, and automation initiatives.
- Partner with business, product, architecture, and technology teams to define solution strategies and deliver outcomes.
- Establish engineering practices for coding, testing, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
- Use AI-powered coding assistants and engineering agents such as GitHub Copilot and Devin AI to improve delivery efficiency and software quality.
- Apply context engineering and AI-first development practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers and drive technical skill development across teams.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert and technical advisor to stakeholders, architects, and engineering leadership.
- Assess technology risks, develop remediation strategies, and ensure compliance with Citi policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- 13+ years of application development experience.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, multithreading and concurrency, the Collections Framework, transaction management, SQL/RDBMS, cloud platforms, and Kafka.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
- Experience driving technical design, architecture reviews, and engineering governance.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across teams.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate independently and influence technical direction across organizations.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and cloud-native platforms.
- Preferred familiarity with observability, monitoring, and SRE practices.
- Preferred experience using GitHub Copilot, Devin AI, or similar coding agents.
- Preferred understanding of context engineering, prompt design, and agentic software development lifecycle practices.
- Strong knowledge of secure software development and application security.
