Responsibilities
- Own complex epics and deliver fullstack features, services, and refactors from ticket breakdown through deployment and post-release validation.
- Define timelines, resources, sequencing, risks, and trade-offs for engineering work.
- Design service boundaries, data models, APIs, and technical design documents.
- Build high-availability, low-latency, autoscaling frontend and backend systems.
- Write, review, and maintain idiomatic, well-tested code, including unit, integration, and contract tests.
- Instrument logging, metrics, and tracing and participate in on-call incident response and postmortem follow-up.
- Partner with PM, Design, QA, PMO, and SRE across planning, estimation, prioritization, and delivery.
- Identify technical debt, modernize legacy code, and improve code quality and bug reporting.
- Use AI coding assistants and agentic workflows within team guardrails.
- Mentor L1 and L2 engineers and contribute to onboarding, knowledge sharing, brown-bags, internal talks, and architecture reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with substantial fullstack frontend and backend experience.
- Experience owning software epics or features of significant complexity.
- Strong foundational knowledge of modern distributed computing and quantitative reasoning about service performance.
- Working experience with a breadth of datastores, including MySQL, NoSQL, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Experience with Git, Docker, CI, 12factor, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience working within a microservice architecture.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, Ruby, or Python and a modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
- Hands-on proficiency with AI coding assistants and agentic workflows such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor.
- Experience mentoring less experienced engineers and collaborating cross-functionally.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
