Responsibilities
- Design and architect solutions for web, software, prototypes, and proofs of concept.
- Lead functional requirements gathering, technical specification development, and project and test planning.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert by mentoring engineers, demonstrating technical expertise, and leading a small team.
- Perform approximately 50–80% hands-on coding, data modeling, performance tuning, and database system configuration.
- Document and present architectural and design options to development teams and business users.
- Resolve defects and bugs during QA, pre-production, production, and post-release patching.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, QA/QE, product lines, and business units.
- Build and operate highly available, massively scalable authorization capabilities and components.
- Lead meetings, present complex technical topics, serve as a technical point of contact, and provide cross-functional leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience designing and developing databases for web, software, or mobile applications.
- 10+ years of NoSQL experience with large datasets and access patterns.
- 10+ years of enterprise development with web services and related technologies.
- Expertise building and maintaining services in AWS.
- Proficiency designing, developing, and operating highly available, large-scale systems using Java-based technologies.
- Expertise designing fault-tolerant systems with parallel processing and large database migrations.
- Expertise across the software development life cycle and software design and architecture processes.
- Strong leadership experience, including leading meetings, presenting, serving as a technical go-to person, and leading cross-functional efforts.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Business acumen, strategic thinking, and strategy development capabilities.
- Ability to build strong teams, establish and evangelize vision, practice facilitative leadership, and attract and retain talent.
- Experience with Agile Development, Scrum, or Extreme Programming methodologies.
