Responsibilities
- Build and operate next-generation Azure MySQL database cloud services at global scale.
- Own complex engineering problems end to end and make pragmatic, high-impact technical decisions.
- Write clean, reliable, maintainable code and deliver quickly in ambiguous, high-pressure environments.
- Lead technical decisions independently, mentor engineers, and work cross-functionally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 12+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check screening upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or cloud services is preferred.
- Strong programming skills and deep knowledge of a programming language, its standard library, data structures, and algorithms are preferred.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
- Proven ability to lead technical decisions independently, mentor engineers, work cross-functionally, and deliver reliable, maintainable code is preferred.
- Familiarity with control-plane design patterns, service orchestration, and scaling stateful services and distributed systems is preferred.
- Experience with database internals, performance tuning, failover, replication, Linux troubleshooting, memory-dump analysis, and low-level performance is a plus.
