Base Salary
$102k - $128k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and operate production backend services at scale using Java, Quarkus, Spring Boot, and RESTful API design.
- Design and maintain event-driven services using Kafka, SQS, SNS, pub/sub, asynchronous processing, and distributed-systems patterns.
- Own backend systems end to end, including data modeling, schema design, event flows, deployment, observability, and production operations.
- Work with relational, NoSQL, caching, and data warehousing technologies, including database migrations and query tuning.
- Deploy services on AWS or Azure using Kubernetes and manage infrastructure through Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps practices.
- Implement monitoring, metrics, logging, APM, distributed tracing, and automated performance and load testing.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and agents for code generation, refactoring, debugging, pull requests, reviews, and prompt evaluation or governance.
- Mentor peers, champion backend engineering practices, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale.
- Strong Java proficiency with Quarkus, Spring Boot, or similar JVM frameworks.
- Deep experience with event-driven architectures and Domain Driven Design patterns for distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Aurora RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and production deployment on AWS or Azure using Kubernetes and EKS.
- Strong experience with Datadog or similar observability tools, RESTful API design, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform or CloudFormation, and automated performance or load testing frameworks.
- Experience with AI-assisted development and agentic engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code is expected.
- Collaborative approach, cross-functional communication, engineering excellence, responsible practices, and willingness to mentor teammates.
