Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate Go and Python backend services for discovery, assurance, fleet management, and data ingestion.
- Define and evolve versioned gRPC and REST APIs using Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI.
- Build React and TypeScript monitoring and telemetry dashboards with real-time charts, status views, filters, thresholds, and drill-down workflows.
- Develop query and aggregation APIs and optimize dashboards for large fleets and high-frequency telemetry.
- Create type-safe frontend-backend integrations with generated clients, shared schemas, and consistent authentication and error handling.
- Participate in on-call operations, automated testing, CI quality gates, planning, code review, mentoring, and roadmap development.
- Use AI-enabled coding tools and agentic workflows responsibly across design, implementation, testing, review, documentation, and incident triage.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, customer-facing teams, and other engineering teams to solve network-operator problems.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful production experience in both backend and frontend development.
- Strong production experience in Go and working proficiency in Python, or vice versa.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating gRPC services with Protocol Buffers, including schema evolution, backward compatibility, streaming RPCs, deadlines, middleware, and error handling.
- Experience building distributed, event-driven systems with message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka, asynchronous processing, and idempotent ingestion.
- Strong React and TypeScript skills, including component composition, state management, and typing practices.
- Experience building monitoring, observability, or analytics dashboards with time-series charts, heatmaps, health views, and drill-down navigation.
- Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3, ECharts, Recharts, uPlot, or Visx.
- Experience rendering large or high-frequency datasets using downsampling, virtualization, canvas, or WebGL techniques.
- Experience handling real-time browser data through WebSockets, server-sent events, or gRPC-Web streaming, along with caching and refresh strategies such as TanStack Query.
- Knowledge of modern CSS, TailwindCSS or similar utility-first frameworks, responsive design, WCAG accessibility, and accessible charting.
- Experience with Jest, React Testing Library, and visual regression testing for dashboards and charts.
- Regular practical use of AI coding assistants and agents, with sound judgment around verification, reviewability, prompting, and protection of sensitive data.
- Strong communication, collaboration, product judgment, and comfort contributing in a fast-moving cross-functional environment.
- Preferred experience includes networking protocols, SNMP, gNMI/gNOI, streaming telemetry, NetBox, NAPALM, Nornir, Netmiko, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, time-series databases, PromQL, Grafana, configurable dashboards, alerting UX, LLM APIs, MCP, tool-using agents, agentic frameworks, evaluation suites, and guardrails.
