Responsibilities
- Design, implement, scale, and maintain backend systems that process large volumes of data.
- Build event-driven and API-based integrations and contribute to migration toward a scalable domain-based architecture.
- Optimize software for performance-sensitive, production-critical workflows with high throughput and low latency.
- Investigate complex technical problems and propose solutions collaboratively with engineering and data science colleagues.
- Work autonomously across three teams and related product and data science functions.
- Influence junior and mid-level engineers while spending most of the time on complex hands-on engineering work.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong technical depth.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with heavy data processing tools such as Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, and Kafka.
- Experience with Python and/or PySpark and with complex, real-time, high-volume systems.
- Experience with Docker, SQL, NoSQL databases, REST APIs, and event-driven integrations.
- Ability to work in performance-oriented, production-critical environments and collaborate effectively with engineers and data science partners.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers is preferred.
- Experience with Pandas, Spring framework, microservices, and large-scale data or analytics environments is preferred.
- A background in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred.
