Responsibilities
- Define and own Hone’s multi-year Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure strategy.
- Lead complex infrastructure initiatives including multi-region resilience, zero-trust networking, and platform-level developer tooling from design through production.
- Architect and provision reusable, governed infrastructure using Pulumi with TypeScript or Python.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, including automated build, test, deployment, and rollback workflows.
- Establish organization-wide infrastructure standards covering tagging, cost governance, security baselines, environment parity, and capacity planning.
- Advance infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices with pull-request-based change management and audit trails.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Security, and compliance leadership on infrastructure roadmaps and investment decisions.
- Mentor engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and raise infrastructure engineering capabilities across the organization.
- Design and maintain HIPAA-compliant cloud configurations involving network segmentation, key management, secrets handling, and audit controls.
- Own disaster recovery, business continuity, infrastructure runbooks, chaos engineering, and failover testing.
- Drive observability and operational excellence using Azure monitoring tools and establish SLO/SLA frameworks.
- Evaluate emerging cloud-native services and contribute through technical talks, documentation, code reviews, and cross-team collaboration.
Requirements
- 8+ years of cloud engineering or DevOps experience, including at least 5 years working with Microsoft Azure in production.
- Demonstrated staff-level or principal-level technical leadership, including cross-team initiatives and architectural influence.
- Deep production experience with Pulumi or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform or Bicep.
- Expert experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions across large engineering organizations.
- Expertise with Azure services including AKS, App Service, Azure Functions, Storage, Key Vault, Virtual Networks, Azure SQL, Service Bus, and Azure Networking.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, PowerShell, and Bash for automation, tooling, and platform engineering.
- Advanced understanding of GitOps, branching strategies, and enterprise-scale infrastructure change management.
- Expertise with Docker and Kubernetes/AKS, including cluster operations, workload identity, autoscaling, and network policy in production.
- Deep familiarity with HIPAA compliance, zero-trust architecture, identity federation, secrets management, network isolation, and audit logging.
- Experience designing and operating SLO/SLA frameworks, capacity planning models, and FinOps programs at scale.
- Ability to mentor and develop engineers, influence without authority, and drive technical alignment across teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing architecture decision records, runbooks, and executive-facing technical briefings.
