Base Salary
$196k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and execution for platform networking, traffic management, and service-to-service communication across multi-tenant and multi-cluster EKS environments.
- Design and operate resilient Istio service mesh topologies with mTLS, traffic policies, ingress and egress, rate limiting, observability, and Envoy-based extensions.
- Define and implement platform standards for HTTP/REST and gRPC APIs, including versioning, contract governance, and performance and SLO baselines.
- Build Python and Go automation and tooling to improve developer productivity, operational safety, and release velocity.
- Create and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code modules, pipelines, and guardrails.
- Partner with security, networking, and application teams on identity, encryption, zero-downtime migrations, and incident readiness.
- Drive roadmaps, set success metrics, de-risk complex projects, communicate tradeoffs, and mentor senior engineers.
Requirements
- Experience with AWS networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, NLB, ALB, PrivateLink, NAT, and DNS.
- Strong Kubernetes and AWS EKS operations experience at scale, including cluster lifecycle, node pools, autoscaling, admission control, and CRDs.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/REST and gRPC protocols, including performance, reliability, and backward compatibility.
- Strong understanding of Istio service mesh; Envoy experience is a strong plus.
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills across L3–L7, including DNS, TLS, mTLS, routing policies, packet analysis, and Envoy/Istio telemetry.
- Strong scripting and programming skills in Python and Go.
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
- Strong leadership skills for end-to-end project planning, execution, stakeholder alignment, and communication.
