Base Salary

$105k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of backend platform services, APIs, middleware, runtimes, and integration frameworks across OCI.
  • Design and operate scalable distributed systems that provision, upgrade, and manage Kubernetes clusters across OCI regions.
  • Define API versioning, lifecycle, deprecation, interoperability, backward-compatibility, migration, and safe-rollout strategies.
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, performance, observability, and operational efficiency of OKE and related cloud services.
  • Develop automation, developer tooling, and testing frameworks that improve operations, engineering productivity, and service quality.
  • Diagnose complex production issues across Kubernetes, networking, compute, storage, and OCI infrastructure services.
  • Lead architecture and technical decisions through design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and hands-on engineering.
  • Create migration guides, adoption playbooks, documentation, and examples for platform capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and improve engineering, operational, and technical decision-making practices across multiple teams.
  • Participate in operating a highly available 24x7 cloud service with a focus on reliability, security, scalability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated impact on backend, platform, or cloud services.
  • Strong experience designing highly available, scalable distributed systems and evolving production APIs or platform interfaces.
  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented or systems programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, or Go.
  • Deep understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and secure software development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or influencing architecture and technical design across teams.
  • Preferred experience with microservices, SDKs, RESTful APIs, containers, cloud-native deployments, or developer-platform products.
  • Preferred experience defining or operating SLOs, error budgets, observability standards, capacity plans, API migrations, platform adoption programs, and engineering mentoring initiatives.
  • Strong ownership, judgment in ambiguous environments, and written and verbal communication skills.
