Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Define backend design principles, coding standards, API contracts, and engineering best practices.
- Design secure and reliable APIs, including request/response models, error handling, and versioning strategies.
- Design database models, optimize queries and indexing, and develop data-access layers.
- Integrate applications with databases, third-party services, enterprise platforms, and internal and external systems.
- Develop reusable backend components, libraries, and common services while ensuring performance, scalability, availability, security, and maintainability.
- Identify and resolve complex application, API, database, and integration issues.
- Conduct code reviews and promote secure coding and software engineering standards.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, technical leads, product owners, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in technical design, solution reviews, estimation, and implementation planning.
- Mentor backend developers and provide technical guidance.
- Improve automated testing, build processes, CI/CD, deployment, and observability practices.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of overall software development experience with significant backend application development experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, object-oriented programming, Spring Boot, and the broader Spring ecosystem.
- Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and backend services, including HTTP standards, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
- Experience with database design, data modeling, normalization, SQL, query optimization, and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Experience with ORM and persistence frameworks such as Spring Data JPA or Hibernate.
- Understanding of backend integration patterns, enterprise application integration, concurrency, multithreading, asynchronous processing, and transaction management.
- Experience developing modular, reusable, and maintainable backend components and secure APIs.
- Familiarity with unit, integration, and automated testing frameworks and source control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with enterprise applications, distributed systems, microservices, Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, Redis, OpenAPI/Swagger, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, observability, JUnit, and Mockito.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills.
